Quick Post about Chicago

I know, I know...we still haven't posted any pics from Cairo/Beirut/NYC. We promise we will blog about our trip in the next week. Brad has been on call and I just got back from a short little trip to Chicago, so we haven't had too much time. I just wanted to get a quick post in though about the trip to Chicago. The first night I got in, I had dinner with Pauline, Kristy, and Pat at our favorite restaurant in Chinatown, Chi Cafe. It's also where we met our nephew Elliot for the first time. Isn't he a cutie? He's also a happy baby and always smiling! Makes thinking motherhood might not be so bad after all...in maybe 2 years.

So I headed to Chicago to attend Northwestern University's Leadership Symposium where I was inaugurated as Regional Director and Co-Chair of one of the Northwestern Alumni Association's Standing Committees. I'm excited to be the Regional Director for the Northwestern Alumni and get to head up the Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco areas. It's also a 3 year term...so it's quite the commitment! While on campus, I also got to meet our new University President Morton Shapiro. I think he'll do a great job and be a good follow-up to Henry Bienen.

I also ran the Chicago Half Marathon on Sunday with Pat. I'm jealous that everything comes easy to him! He ran it in 1 hour 37 min. without training while I started struggling at the 3 mile mark. Somehow, I managed to deal with the pain and finished it in 2 hours 46 min. The pain probably came from not training enough for the race...I got one run in in the last 4 weeks because of our trip out of the country. But it feels good to be done and to get a 13.1 mile run in today.

BTW: Big news - my younger brother, Jon, is engaged!!! He and Stacy have been dating for the longest time...since high school? So it's about time ;) We're excited for their wedding!
